A small pebble beach near the Italian border

Hawaï Beach with Menton's old town in the background

Nestled at the foot of the cliffs, near the Port Garavan, Hawaï Beach is a small stretch of pebbles along the roadside. Located to the east of Menton, it offers views of the old town on one side and Italy on the other. It is the last beach on the French Riviera before the border. Narrow and only a few dozen meters long, it stretches between two rocky jetties. The beach gets its name from an American regiment of World War II, partly made up of Hawaiian soldiers. Between 1944 and 1945, these soldiers used to come and surf on this beach, which sometimes experiences strong waves.

Hawaï Beach: clear water, tranquility, and basic comfort

The clear water of Hawaï Beach in Menton

Known to locals, Hawaï Beach offers a certain tranquility, away from the crowds, despite the noise from the road. Its clear water invites swimming, although the seabed consists of pebbles and rocks. It is relatively uncrowded, but the available space to settle is limited. The comfort is basic, with only showers to rinse off. For families with children, we recommend the nearby Sablettes Beach instead.

A dog-friendly area away from the beach

Hawaï Beach is one of the few places on the French Riviera that allows dogs to be by the water. However, you will need to head to the designated area, a few meters to the right of the main beach.
